Yes, Marines are allowed to give there girlfriends their dog tags, but there is a lot of personal information on there that they should think twic before doing it, and they need to have an extra set to give to their girlfriend. I know that some times it can be a pain to get more than one set.

Marines must have their two dog tags with them. It is part of their uniform. If they have more then two, then they can do as they please with them.

No dog tags must be on you at all times although you can purchase faux dog tags in the px and give it to your g/f.
well they are not meant to be gifts. There is vital information on the dogtags, so that if they are lost or stolen, someone can easily obtain the social security number, name, blood type, and even religion of that person. It is part of our uniform, and is used to i.d. your remains in combat. but i suppose that if he had extras, he could probably give you one. just dont lose it.

A Marine has a set of dog tags like my homeboy Lava Dog said above. But he cannot give his dog tags to his girl and not have a set to wear at all times.
If he or you want to go and buy another set for you to wear then it’s up to you.
yes but their girlfriends shouldn’t wear them in a military town or on base. And he has to have a second set to have on him. I wore my Marine’s dog tags when I lived back home while he was in Iraq but they are kept in my jewelry box now as I live in Jville NC with him. Also, If you break up with him, they are meaningful to him and it is only right to give them back even if he has another set. He earned them and it isn’t right to take that from him as it is general their fist set not to mention the personal info on them.
